Aviation Industry question. PLEASE HELP.?

I'm doing a research project and I have two questions. The two questions are (1) What piece of legislation gives you the most problems and why? and (2) What legislation would you like to see enacted? Along with your answer please tell me a little bit about yourself. (connection to the aviation industry, job, years experience, etc.) Thanks so much!

  1. Note that compliance with FAA regulations affords the manufacturer NO legal protection, and it is obvious that mere compliance does not guarantee safety. So, I would argue that, if we have plaintiffs' attorneys, we don't need FAA inspectors -- or vice versa. Antique regulations and arcane certification requirements guarantee slow progress in technology. Contrast aviation and automotive progress, if you need any examples.
  2. The upcoming budget for the FAA, the congresscritters are not willing to spend the necessary funds to SAFELY run the FAA as it should. Therefore, they have come up with "user fees" that is going to all but kill recreational aviation except for the wealthy. I would like to see a bill passed that PROHIBITS user fees for General Aviation! My connection to the Aviation "Industry" is purely recreational. I own fly my own airplane, pay Really high prices for AV gas because of the high tax leveed, Participate in civic activities that involve general aviation, and I am a Aviation Ground Instructor Since the early 1990's
  3. http://www.tc.gc.ca/acts-regulations/GENERAL/A/aa/act/menu.html I hope the above link will help you...you dint specify the country in which u live...
  4. I agree with cherokee... i think this new crap about user fees are rediculus... we are going to see private aviation go down the tubes which will close FBO's which will hurt economies because then even the wealthy wont want to stop by...
  5. Have to agree with Cherokee and others. The new proposed user fees are an attempt to "Euro-penalize" us here in the States. The fact is that the FAA actually has a surplus in their budget each year and we enjoy the world's best air traffic control system. Is there room for improvement? Sure, but let's not start by clobbering the little guys with fees for any ATC services and high fuel taxes. The main thrust of user fees in my humble opinion is another attempt by the airlines to reduce their costs. This might be akin to charging the owner of a Toyota hybrid the same road taxes and fees paid by a semi-truck just because they use the same roadways. My connection is much like the rest, I am a pilot and aircraft owner and I do volunteer flights for charity organizations which if these fees come into play will probably cease almost entirely.
