How much for aviation helmets?
My parents are trying to surprise my brother with a new aviation helmet. The problem is we don't know how much is a too much to pay, and how much is too little. We don't want a garbage helmet but we really don't know much about this stuff and we don't want to spoil the surprise by asking my brother. Any help is appreciated.

- What is he going to be using it for? Fixed Wing? helicopter? Just to look nice on a shelf? It really depends on what the need is before you can determine how much is too much. I have an HGU-33 single visor helmet that I fly with, and I paid around $1,500 for it. I had it painted and that includes full comm equipment. If he does not actually need it for flying, you can get a used display model on ebay for considerably less. If he needs it for professional flight, go to flightsuits.com. This is where I got mine, and the people there are very helpful in determining the helmet you would need for a particular application.
