How has the Aviation Maintenance Industry changed when compared to before 9/11 and today?

I am doing an article for AircraftMechanix.com. The subject is Today's Aviation Maintenance Industry VS. Pre 9/11 Industry. Alot has changed, people lost jobs, companies shut down, and many changes overall occured. But because I was not around doing maintenance when that happened, I need someone who was to fill me in with a little knowledge and experience.

  1. To be honest I don't see a connection between the two. Aviation Maintenance has nothing at all to do with 9/11 as far as your article saying people lost jobs and companies shutting down. If this has happened it was not part of the attacks being related to Aviation Maintenance, but the costs and expenses to companies as a result of the 9/11 attacks. I have 33 years in aviation but the only thing I can tell you is new laws created as a result of the attacks have added operating costs to businesses. This may be a reason why some have lost jobs, but that wouldn't be limited to just Aviation Maintenance. It also could have forced some smaller companies or deficit running companies to close their doors. You have a good question here and I am going to star it and i will research this some more on my own. I think a real answer is to long to fit here on Yahoo answers.
