Why did the pentagon pick Airbus over Boing to assist Northrup Grummund in building the new ?

Boing has a long history of aviation excellence compared with the short history of Airbus. By picking Airbus, the pentagon essentialy just transfered 40,000 potential American jobs to Europe. With our economy in reccession, this doesn't make sense to me.

  1. Because the 767 is at the end of its manufacturing cycle. Buying it would make the Air Force the ONLY customer in the world. It will be obsolete before the first one is delivered. The Airbus 330 is more capable in just about every comparison.
  2. Maybe Boeing became too greedy and wanted too much money. Usually government contracts go to the lowest bidder and the lowest bidder usually isn't very cheap.
  3. Our government and military has always operated with equipment from the lowest bidder (or associated with Dick Chaney). Doesn't that just make you warm, fuzzy and oh so secure?
  4. Technically Boeing should not have any government contracts at all as it has committed fraud, and has been found guilty of fraud and corruption so often. By the rules they should be barred from government contracts. Boeing has plenty of work on the orders on the 787 and 797. Of course they wont defraud themselves! Perhaps they should play by the same laws everyone else is suppose to! Awarding contracts just to award them is what brought about the M16, a total piece of crap. Special Forces are using German weapons!
  5. actully rumers are the plant to build the A330 tankers are gonna be in Mobile AL and trust me all of our Special Forces aren't using german weapons unless you want to email me a copy of your W-2
  6. First off, it didn't go to the lowest bidder! Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. analyst Troy Lahr said in a research note it was surprising the Northrop-EADS team won given the estimated $35 million per-plane savings offered by Boeing. Lahr estimated the Boeing aircraft would have cost $125 million apiece. "It appears the (Air Force) chose capabilities over cost," Lahr said. (www.cbsnews.com) It looks like they were chosen because the plane has more room, can hold more passengers, and more fuel. I know it sucks that Boeing didn't get and this will be a blow to American jobs, but there are other things to consider. Which plane is the best for what they want to use it for? Apparently they think the Northrup plane will be. Besides, Boeing did this to themselves by having a conflict of interest within the Air Force. If they would have done things right the first time, they would still have the contract!!!! Read the article, it tells you about both points I have made!
