sense in wasting taxpayers money on two land armies. one is enough. all the army has to do is grow by three more divisions and reinforcing air force and naval aviation. amphibious assalts are obsolete. imagine all the taxpayers money being wasted on Marine Corps bands. this could be used to provide more jobs or build better roads. air assault is the new thing for infantrymen, the amphibious approach is long gone, the last one being korea, how many of u agree?

I'm sure the Army can now go on ships, flies planes, and transport the President in their bomb proof armour cars. This might sucks for most people in the Army but they have to trained extra now since we need a marinetime force. They get to be posted over hundred position around the world just to guard Americans interest. Since the Marines are gone, it means the Army can have over a thousand uniforms now. FOr each seasons and don't forget the all season uniforms too. Toys for Tots have new buddies now. The Army drill team "Old Guard" will replace the Marine "24 Silent Drill Platoon" and get us first place in the world drill completion like they shoulddo every year. Ho-Oh! I'm pretty sure the Navy would love to have a bunch of Army into there ships and do nothing but land when needed. I hope they know how to arm the big guns. The Air Force might give round for another military service flying their F-22 since now only the Navy fly the F-18 for their carriers. The Coast Guard I'm sure will miss their buddies too. Hu-ah! If anyone here have travel the world and talk to other military experts, they agree the United States Marine Corps is the most respect military service in the world. I have many friends in the army, navy, and air force too and they agree that each of the other military service is important. Oh-Rah!
Maybe the ARMY should be abolished and we should raise the bar to USMC standards for all our fighting forces. SEMPER FI !!! BTW - the last amphibious assualt was Grenada. It was a small one, but that is the case.

It pays to have some fighting men with useful infantry doctrine. This idea was reinforced, if you'll recall, in Korea, where the Marines saved the Army's bacon. If you really want to get rid of an anachronism, take the chutes away from the 82d and turn them into civil affairs, engineering, and MP battalions. Imagine what would have happened if we'd gone into Iraq with adequate forces in those areas! The entire concept of maneuver warfare on a large scale is going away, and both AF and Navy aviation are already overly fat (except in ash & trash, where they've always been short).
no the u.s. goverment dosent need the Marine Corps, but the U.S people WAN'T a Marine Corps, and what are you talking about we recive the shitiest pay, the shitiest equipment and tthe hamdy-down supplies but we still kick more ass than the Army and everyone knows that. The marines have a much different role than the Army.. its not just amphibious assault.. you should probably read before talking. Also, if you're on that path.. get rid of Naval aviation, just give all to the AF, and have AF pilots on the Navy ships...get rid of the seals and make it all Army Take away the Army's ships (they have more sea transport capability than the Navy) and give it to the Navy ---Blaster... the AF had Combat Controllers in with all the Spec Ops including the Special Forces and SEALs before both Iraq and Afghanistan officially started.. preparing for the air war. ---Anderson.. you receive the SAME pay as everyone else.. and I believe right now the AF has more people in country than the Marines.. just wanted to mention that to give you a hard time

Not to raise the ego of the Marines EVEN more, but without the Marines we'd be f*cked, they are better trained and are better in combat hands down
