If I already have a 4 year degree, can I get an aviation contract with the Marines?

  1. That depends on your degree and fitness to fly.
  2. You need to be in a commissioning program and pass the ASTB with high enough scores - I believe it is 5-6-6, with 1-pt waivers available.
  3. talk with a marine officer recruiter and not a enlisted recruiter.
  4. Great answers already and I know this from experience. As already indicated speak to an OFFICER ONLY recruiter familiar with "flight officer" requirements. In today's "aviation military" specific degrees, GPA, YOUR school attended, etc., ALL "factor" into initial consideration. I recently received a "memo" for "recommended" courses of study for Navy/Marine. Ideal are those courses and/or degrees in engineering, mathematics, science, physics. GPA of 3.2 is "minimum" as well. YOU MUST pass a "Flight Physical" if it has been determined YOU may qualify from initial interviews with a RECRUITER. One area to NOTE and "terminates" 28% of OCS candidates, "FITNESS", failure to PASS. Marine/Navy pilots MUST swim one mile, a long way, with all other requirements. DO your research by FIRST visiting an OFFICER RECRUITER. Understand details and facts, and, my advise, interview with other branches of service as well. Good Luck, stay positive. Shoot for YOUR "goals" in life.
