In the U.S Navy is a Aviation Ordnance or Aviation Boatswinsmate a better job?
If you believe Aviation Boatswins mate is a better job then which part (i.e launching and recovery equipment, handling, or fuels) ?

- Do you want to play with planes or load bombs and ammo?
- Aviation Ordnance! You still get to work with planes as well as a myriad of weapons and weapon systems. It's also more technical and allows for better positioning in the civilian workforce ($$$). But, washing and fueling airplanes and dragging chain all over the flight line could be fun too. Either way, you're an Airdale; the top of the Fleet!
- If i could change my rate ABE, they shoot the jets off the cats, and work on the launching and arresting gear, when your up there its cool to watch. AO's no building bombs loading moving around heavy a** gear, no thanks.
- This all depends on what you want out of your service. AO's don't just build and load bombs and AB's don't just drag chains around the deck. If you are looking for technical training then AO or ABE would be the best 2 choices. My preference would be AO because of the chance to be assigned to a squadron instead of a ship. I just preferred squadron life to ship life (as did almost everyone else I knew in the Navy). If you decide on AO and have a choice, try to get into an HSL squadron. There you will have the opportunity to cross train with all other aviation maintenance rates as well.
