Does anybody know what type of job would fit me in the industry of aviation?
Hello, everyone- I'm a freshman in high school and I need to write a report on what type of job I would like to have when I would get older. I would like a job in aviation, as its interested me my entire life. The problem is that I don't want to be a pilot or an air traffic controller. I realised that I liked working on the ground with pilots, ground crews, baggage handlers, gate attendants, as well as customers. In short, I realised that instead of working on one single plane, I realised that I liked working at one specific airport, managing the people going in and out, whether it was working in immigration, or airline operations for one specific airline at one specific hub. Thanks in advance!

- How about something in the operations management of the airport? You would then be involved in all of the aspects you mentioned and still be on the ground. You may as well aim high! Good Luck.
- Working as an A&P Maintenance Technician or Avionics (Aviation Electronics) Technician at a certified repair station will give you a lot of experience on all sorts of aircraft types.
- How about a Traffic Air Controller. You control everything from the plane, the pilot and the ground crew.
- I would recommend a ramp agent, who loads and unloads bags, a customer service agent, who checks people in and works the gate, a TSA agent, who operates security, an airport manager, in charge of all operations at an airport including future planning ect., or maybe a fuel man, who drives a fuel truck for an independent company and fuels airplanes...
- hey i worked for a airline for 14 years same airline i can help you pin point it if you like just email me and i can help you.
- how about an A&P (airframe and powerplant technition).I 'm a pilot and an A&P. But I love working on the aircraft.I've been doing it for 27 years and never want to do anything else.
- air cargo is an option.....the job is never the same from day to day, and you see some pretty interesting loads...from flower to diesel engines to dolphins to dead bodies......various types of aircraft and aircrews, dealing with shippers, charter companies, ad-hoc services, nothing is ever the same or ever 'ordinary' and if you hook up with the right company, advancement and pay can go up very quickly due to high turnover....if you can deal with the odd hours and changing conditions from day to day and stick with it you can advance very quicky
- It sounds like you are interested in the operations side of the industry - possibly an operations manager - I have experience in that part of the industry and would be happy to answer any questions, etc... you may have
- Airport Management. I actually did a high school internship in Airport Management and Flight Operations when I was a senior in high school. I already had my Private License at the time. Good luck.
