Would an Aviation job be a good choice for a job in the army without having to worry about going to war?

I really want to become a pilot in the Army but many people bring up the war. As a pilot would this be a major concern that i would have to worry about?

  1. The Army is mostly helicopter pilots, so you would be right in the thick of it.
  2. you could become a supply pilot of some kind
  3. The Army has helicopters and fixed wing propeller aircraft. Your chances of going to war as a pilot or as an aircraft mechanic would be much greater than other Army jobs.
  4. If you are worried about going to war then I think I speak for all serviemen and women out there when I say stay your butt home and get a cush job behind a desk because we don't want you serving next to us. We want the people that signed up to serve their country and do their job, regardless of where it takes them. As for your answer, I have been Aviation for many years, and I have been to 13 countries and only one of them wasn't for a conflict of some sort. So..yeah..you WILL go to war in aviation.
  5. Yes, as a helicopter pilot in the Army, there is a very good chance that you would deploy. However, you will receive very good training to prepare you. If flying is something that excites you, I couldn't think of a better job than being a helicopter pilot in the Army. Not to mention the satisfaction that comes from helping the guys on the ground. Is deploying something that you are worried about, or are you just unsure because of other people thoughts on the matter?
  6. hello..i dont understand your question..you want to fly in the army but you worry about getting sent to war..what?...dont join the army if you have a problem if they send you to war..i read somwhere that armys fight wars..doh!..maybe i got it wrong and its civillians who get sent into combat while aviators in the Army grill burgers..play mahjong and watch cartoons on tv..i dont think so lad!..think it over deeply,go fly for Quantas or KLM if you think army pilots may get sent to war and its not what you want..war is bollox anyhow!..ive done it !stay out if you can..have a life lad..bye..
  7. If it's a major concern, don't go into Army Aviation to be a helicopter pilot, at least not in the near future. You will see combat. Aviation brigades are on a rotational cycle into theater (Iraq and Afghanistan) just like the Brigade Combat Teams. Regardless of which type helicopter you end up flying, they are all in theater. But there are many Aviation maintenance MOS's that work primarily on the airfield (on the FOB). If fields like powerplants (turbine engines), hydraulics, and structural repair interest you, you may want to look into those. You'll still be in a war zone, but you probably won't be actually engaged in combat. But you know, any job in the Army has a good probability of deploying to Iraq or Afghanistan.
  8. If you are so concertned about it, then please stay out of the way of those who are willing to accept the risk.
