1. Aviation manufacturing jobs are dependent on how many purchase order contracts the company has recieved. If there are no orders for new planes there is no need for employees so they get laid off. when there are lots of orders need for employees rises so the companies raid other manufacturers and call in laid off workers. Want to know if lay-offs or hirings are in the offing? Read the business pages and see which companies are making the sales. There are always jobs but *where* they are changes.
2. No, not at all. there IS an acute shortage of technical people like pilots and engineers.
