Marine Corps Reservist Deployments?

I am a marine corp reservist, My MOS is 6432(Aircraft Electrical/Instrument/Flight Control Systems Technician for fixed wing) out of Ft. Worth, TX (MAG-41).my questions to other marine reservist or military personnel or spouses that know are 1) How long and how often would a Reservist with my MOS deploy. 2) What would I do if i was to go to Iraq or Afghanistan (I've heard that its possible i will do the job i was trained to do, ive also heard i wont be trusted doing my job i was trained to do so i would guard the air base or i would even get sent on patrol even though i've only had 3 wks of combat training and almost 9 months of aviation training) does anyone have an answer for my question....thanks for all your answers.....OOHRAH, Semper Fidelis!

  1. You heard wrong..Your not gonna get activated and then deployed just so you can go do something you are not trained to do..Does this even make sense to you? Your not gonna go on any patrols as a 6432... To answer your other questions you should ask the Marines in your reserve unit...Ask people who are in your unit..Ask them when they last deployed and what they did.. The same MOS in a different part of the country does not do the same deployments as your unit..Each unit is different and you cant go by what other units do..The information you seek can only be found in the reserve unit in which you are or will be sent to.
  2. Well deployments go in rotations (thats how it works in my unit because were an air wing- every 3 because we share the responsibility with other air wings in the same division) Normally you do what you are trained to do, when the weather guys did weather during their deployment and MPs did a bunch of things. I its the normal deployment active duty Marines have.
