URGENT!!!: army and marine corps infantry are pinned down on a hostile beach, which would u PREFER............
for close air support? USAF or Marine Corps aviation. would an aviator who also is trained in infantry tactics makes for better CAS?

- USMC Aviation, they train constantly in C.A.S. (close air support) I would definatly Trust them the most, but also remember we have a very profesional military not that USAF or USN would be bad support, they would do just fine... But I would rather have my brethern covering my bacon.
- Whichever one can get there first. Both are properly trained. How many would be killed waiting an extra 20 minutes for support from further away?
- af and yes it would make it better
- Whoever can get there first
- I'd rather have Marines for close air support any day of the week.
- Marine CAS...those guys know how to provide CAS. AF and Navy are good at strategic stuff but not too well trained at CAS.
- Either is totally acceptable. Don't forget USAF is CAS for USA. As well as Special Ops, particularly with an USAF Combat Controller on the team.
- It REALLY depends on how we are pinned down.. If the enemy has Anti Air guns and missiles then I would try to take those out before trying to call in Air Support, or if the AA is pathetic then I would rather call in the Marine Corps since they are designed and trained to support the infantry. Not that I'm saying the USAF sucks, just I don't think the USAF has planes that are designed for ground support compare to the US.... But I'm only 13 so most or some of my information might be wrong but I would trust the USMC Air Support. Also A LOT of detail is needed, if the USMC was like 30 minutes away compare to the USAF which is 5min (hypothetical) then I would have to go with the USAF... And an infantry trained pilot is better then a normal pilot since if they crash they have a higher chance of surviving.. But I think both forces are trained in survival and the USMC are trained to be a riflemen, everything else is secondary.
- I'll tell you something that might surprise you. All help from above is appreciated! Having your Squad standing in the gates of hell and having a firefight with rpgs flying all over your berm. It dont matter who flies in and saves you. they all do a good job. I'm retired army and I wont say a word against any aviator that flies in and saves your ass. The Marines do a great job at C.A.S. I swear you can see them smile as they fly by. They do put the CLOSE on close air support.
- marine corp, everyone know usaf cant hit nothin..:)
- USAF A-10 Warthog or Army Apache. Take your pick.
- Today the Army, they have Apache, and can call for the A10. both have proven they can pack a hard punch. Then you have the troops, well trained, and have the equipment to push through with out air support. WW2 the USMC.
- I'd want one of the navy's Iowa Class Battleships (now all retired) off the beach lobbing 16" 2,000 lb high explosive shells at the enemy (9 per salvo).
- USMC For sheer tenacity, and battle record the Marines are my number one choice. USMC aviation is best in close air support, and is designed to invade a hostile beach, make a penetration, form a perimeter, and hold off all counterattacks until reinforcements arrive. Semper Fi
- I think most troops would prefer what ever they can get and what every will break the back/will of the enemy.
- It is A fact that The Marine Pilots get closer than anyone else cause they are crazy! But I would trust any of the services. They are all great. Dont forget about calling in a position for arty or ship fire. First thing dont get pinned down check out intel and the re-con on the area first. But yes The Marines are better. I have to say I was one for 4 and half years!!! Kosovo, Afgan, Iraq. All in in that short time. Crazy or bad luck??
