who would you call for close air support? USAF or Marine aviation?

- The USMC and Navy pilots are specifically trained for close air support, whereas the air force is trained for longer and larger missions. Naturally, I would choose the Navy/Marine close-in air support. A former Marine.

- Thats a tough question. There are too many parameters. A Navy carrier carries the equivilent of an air base in planes and support. If a carrier were nearby, it would be the best choise. If equal distance were between them, both have refueling planes to keep the planes aloft for air cover. The heavier bombers such as B-52's and b=1 ones could carry more armament but would need an aie basw to fly from. - A beach landing would be suported with Carriers . So the air support would be Navy and Marine ,there in minutes, not hours.
- Why do people even keep asking this question? Planes coming in for low altitude attacks makes great air show stunts but poor tactics. In the real world you are not going to ask for any particular type of air support. You are going to request 'fire support' and you will get whatever is assigned to your sector. And if you are in deep shinola - you are not going to want to wait for a low level jet to come to your location. You are going to want a JDAM from that unglamorous heavy bomber orbiting at 40,000 feet.
