When do Marine Corps Officers get commissioned?
I want to be a Marine Aviation Officer (Pilot.) I'm not anywheres near my BA degree. Do I receive my commission AFTER completing OCS or AFTER completing a 4 year degree??? I'm 23 and a half, in order to be an Aviation Officer you need to be commissioned by 27.

- if you are not in rotc that after ocs
- Last I heard, you had to have your bachelor's degree, meet all other qualifications, then do the OCS, which used to be 90 days, before you would receive your commission. If you check with a recruiter, they should be able to give you a definitive answer. There use to be DEP, the Delayed Entry/Enlistment Program, so If you enlist on this, this may give you some extension if you need it. If your grades are good, check into ROTC, you may be able to do it that way too.
- If you get your OCS training done during college, then you are commissioned when you graduate from college.
- Whichever happens last... By that I mean: If you finish your degree before going to OCC, you are commissioned after completing OCC. If you finish the PLC program before graduating, you are commissioned after graduating with a BA or BS. If you want to talk more about it, e-mail me. I know a decent amount about the process.
- Are you in ROTC if not I would enroll now that would help. That away you can get work on getting your commission before turning 27. Maybe if your enrolled in ROTC you can get a waiver I would check into it with the Air Force at your campus
- There are different programs available for becoming an Officer in the Marine Corps. For instance, you do not have to have your BA done to be commissioned. My husband was commissioned with having his AA (he was enlisted). After completing OCS, TBS and his new MOS School he had a timeframe to complete his Bachelor's degree. You could always call Quantico and speak to someone at OCS or head to the local recruiter. They have contacts that would be available for you.
