is marine corps aviation a nescessary need for defense or is the US air force enough to cover this need?

- The world's largest Air Force is the US Air Force. The world's second-largest Air Force is the US Navy. The world's fourth-largest Air Force is the US Army. Does that answer your question?
- absolutely.
- The Air Force could cover Marine movements but Marine pilots train right along with the ground pounders. They have a unique perspective on the needs of their ground units. I am retired from the Air Force and think highly of the organization. But we do ask a lot of our Marines and in giving it they want their own cover. I'm willing to give it to them.
- Marine Aviation works more closley with the troops on the ground. They are very well versed in troops support. I heard a lot of the grunts call the Cobras "Grunts-with-Wings" When I was in the Corps, I was talking to some grunts that had done some manuevers with Cobras, and they were laughing about the chaingun on the Cobras dropping hot brass on them as they fired on targets, while they were covering Marine movements.
- They need something to pick up guys with... as long as it's not a fixed winged air craft. They can have helicopters and stuff like that, but don't give them the fixed wing air craft because they're too dumb to fly them and they cost too much to replace. Just Kidding, your pal Zoomie!
- not at all USAF is enough, unessecary Marine Aviation
