What has more career oportunities Marine engine repair or Aviation?

I was planning on joining the coast guard to go into marine engine repair, but i just got the opportunity to apply for both aviation and marine repair in my area....which has more potential for growth as in eventually opening my own business or just in the long run making more money? the aviation is primarily airbuses and the marine is on large vessels. Michael would you mind me asking your starting salary and what you make now? if you dont want to post you can email it to me. thanks

  1. Marine engines. There are way more boats and far less red tape. Unless you love aviation.
  2. Defintely aviation. The airlines are always hiring mechanics. Pays is good to.
  3. Pay isn't that good...I work for one.......Id like what the pilots make. Think of it this way. The pilot may have your life in his hands, but I have yours and his in mine!!!!
  4. I know there is a shortage of aircraft mechanics and they are really in demand. As far as the salary, sorry I can't answer that. But, where I work the aircraft mechanics are next in line to the pilots. Plus if your opportunity gives you the chance to get your pilot's license, too, that could be a long term plan.
