What has more career oportunities Marine engine repair or Aviation? I was planning on joining the coast guard to go into marine engine repair, but i just got the opportunity to apply for both aviation and marine repair in my area....which has more potential for growth as in eventually opening my own business or just in the long run making more money? the aviation is primarily airbuses and the marine is on large vessels. Michael would you mind me asking your starting salary and what you make now? if you dont want to post you can email it to me. thanks
Marine Aviation? Couple questions. If i do a four year afrotc program at a college ( only college in the state with aviation major which i really would like to do) would i be able to switch over services to marines to be an aviator? also, what types of aircraft do the marine corps fly? thanx in advance
When do Marine Corps Officers get commissioned? I want to be a Marine Aviation Officer (Pilot.) I'm not anywheres near my BA degree. Do I receive my commission AFTER completing OCS or AFTER completing a 4 year degree??? I'm 23 and a half, in order to be an Aviation Officer you need to be commissioned by 27.
Aviation field MOS in the Marine Corps would I....? If I happen to pick an aviation field mos in the Marine Corps, such as a mechanic, does this mean I would still be sent to Iraq even if my mos is not Infantry? I dont mind if I do, but I just want to know. Thanks. Ok, cool. Does this mean I would have a weapon with me too?
Marine Corps Aviation? I'm looking to become a Naval Aviator or Naval Flight Officer in the Marine Corps. But I would like some info, like, what are the vision requirements (because i have 20/70 vision) and what are my chances of getting a slot, stuff like that. oh, i'm a sophmore in high school right now.
Marine Corps only branch of service that guarantees aviation? I'm Marine Corps veteran I'm almost done with school and I plan on going back into the military to fly planes, my passion. My question, is the Marine Corps the only branch of service that guarantees aviation if you pass the military flight aptitude skills test? The AF won't take prior service so that leaves Navy, Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard. The Army only flies rotary wing, I want to fly fixed wing. I would like to explore other branches since I am a Marine vet. But I would not mind going back to the Corps if they are the only branch of service that guarantees aviation. And I'm sure I would pass OCS and TBS with flying colors. Is the Marine Corps the only branch of service that guarantees aviation? Thanks all
Can I go active duty as an aviation mechanic and go to college at the same time? My plan is to go into the marine corps as an active duty aviation mechanic and go to college at the same time studying aeronautical mechanics for 4-6 yrs, and then retire from the corps when I'm 38 and began a new career as an engineer working on jets and helicopters for the goverment. Is this a likely or possible scenario? How much of college will the corps pay for? What colleges will i have to choose from? Do I just sign up for college once I'm out of boot camp or what?
How to be in the Marine Force Recon? I am 17 and goint to bootcamp june 1st 2008. I am currenly signed up for Aviation Mechanics as my MOS. What MOS should I choose to help me get in the Marine Force Recon? Do they ever choose Aviation Mechanics? Can I still get in to Marine Force Recon if I didn't do well in high school, I only have a 2.5gpa cause I never tried and didn't care about high school but now I wish I would have. How should I go about going Marine Force Recon? Please answer as detailed as possible.
Can I still get a an enlistment bonus for the Marine Corps? Im not doing it for the money but if I would still be more than happy to get some extra cash. I am in the DEP for the USMC and already went to meps and go to boot June 1st 08. I completely forgot to ask for a signing bonus and was wondering if I could still get one? What would be the best way to ask my recruiter? My friend has the same recruiter and just got a $10,000 signing bonus. By the way my MOS will be aviation mechanics. Additional Details 10 hours ago I meant to say Im not joining for the money. I'm joining for the pride to belong and honor to be a marine. But the extra money would be nice
How long is aviation mechanic mos school?? I'm enlisting into the Marine Corps and want to know how long the aviation mechanic school was for helicopters dosent matter which one...and if anyone is sationed at camp pendelton, how long are your work days?? And yes i asked a recruiter and she didn't know long it was..
Are there more aviation opportunities in the army or marines? I know army has better rotor wing, but marines have both rotor wing and fixed wing. I seem to lean toward being an officer in the corp and have chance of being a fixed wing pilot or navigator, but if rotor wing is a higher probability it seems like army is the better choice........help.... I am trying to avoid air force, army flies more than the AF, kinda lame. I am going for officer in either branch I end up in, with my ultimate goal to retire from the service as a pilot or part of an air crew.
how hard is flight school for the navy or marine corps.? I have served seven years in the marine corps and know what recruiters can say. I want to know how hard the flight school is and the percentage rate of passing. I also want to know how hard the Aviation Selection Test Battery is and the percentage rate on that as well. I am not worried about the physicall aspect of the training. If you have any knowledge or have gone to this training before please let me know your experiences.
Best book for Marine officers wife? brand new Lt getting married. His new wife has no clue about military life. She will catch on quickly, but a book could help her. Suggestions? FYI - Lt is in Marine Aviation pilot training.
the Marine Corps should be abolished. look, all we need to do is add 3 more divisions in our army. there is no sense in wasting taxpayers money on two land armies. one is enough. all the army has to do is grow by three more divisions and reinforcing air force and naval aviation. amphibious assalts are obsolete. imagine all the taxpayers money being wasted on Marine Corps bands. this could be used to provide more jobs or build better roads. air assault is the new thing for infantrymen, the amphibious approach is long gone, the last one being korea, how many of u agree?
If you are a Marine or have experience/knowledge with them, please answer?? As an enlisted soldier, one of the jobs I am being slated for is "Aviation Ordiance." I have no idea what this means. Marines, any of you serve in this way?? Where were you stationed? Are there chances for advancement, and what were some of your experiences? Is there any chance of being deployed to Iraq (which I would actually like to do)? Thanks so much! Semper fi.
Hey I just watched Fly boys, UGH, so, what are the top 5 Aviation films of all time? What are the top five aviation movies? My criteria; the aircraft used are (look) believable for the time period of the movie. The flight scenes look real, the movie has a decent story line. oh, and a lack of crappy plot lines, that lend nothing to the movie, and distract from the most important parts i. e. cool air-to-air shots of the aircraft! Here are my top five; 1. Rudy, has nothing to do with flying, and everything to do with Notre Dame 2. Flying Leathernecks, great actual combat footage, decent story, F6F hellcat and F4U corsair air-to-air footage (oh and MARINE pilots! Semper Fi!) 3. Memphis Belle,B-17's, P-51's, Me-109, Combat footage, excellent Aerial footage, decent story, ok acting. 4. Battle of Britian, forget the story and acting, Spitfires! Hurricanes!, He-111's, Me-109' s(although the German A/C were actually Spanish) 5. The Blue Max, George Peppard at his most evil, GREAT air to air action, with actual period replicas! Did I mention Rudy

Marine Aviation...? is it true that there are people in the marines and the navy on the aircraft carriers, that they can have the same jobs dealing with aircraft on these ships? does anyone actually know for a fact? also, if this is true, are marines on the ships less or for shorter periods of time?
Miramar Marine Corps Air Station? Is this a good place to be stationed and if not where are some other good places to be station for my Marine MOS, my MOS is aviation support maintenance. thanks u ahead of time for the help.
NROTC Marine option flight contract? I know that if i do the PLC program for the corps, i can have a contract for aviation. But will i still be able to have that same contract if i were to do NROTC marine option during college?

Marine Avionics? Hello is anyone here in the Marines, or has been in the Marines and had the job of Aviation? If so, please give your opinions, and experiences. Also, do you think it's a good way to go if you're looking to join the Marine Corp?
Marine corps commisioning max age is 30, can you waiver to 35 (for pilots?)? im wanting to enlist in the marine corps (im 22 right now) and i want to enlist for four years. and become an officer for the marine corps (with the MOS of pilot...) i need to serve 4 years (or if i am lucky get admitted into a program to become a commissioned officer before then).... looking at it worst case scenario... if i serve for four years without being allowed to get early commissioning. i will be 26 once i am discharged. another 4 years for a bachelors would make me 30 or 31. depending on when i get discharged. I would definitely apply for officer class as a freshman; while im attending university for aviation. after i achieve a bachelors i will be older then 30 more then likely. is there any way it can be waived and still be eligible to become an aviator for the Marine Corps? or what would be the best route in my circumstance. any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks
Marine Corps Reservist Deployments? I am a marine corp reservist, My MOS is 6432(Aircraft Electrical/Instrument/Flight Control Systems Technician for fixed wing) out of Ft. Worth, TX (MAG-41).my questions to other marine reservist or military personnel or spouses that know are 1) How long and how often would a Reservist with my MOS deploy. 2) What would I do if i was to go to Iraq or Afghanistan (I've heard that its possible i will do the job i was trained to do, ive also heard i wont be trusted doing my job i was trained to do so i would guard the air base or i would even get sent on patrol even though i've only had 3 wks of combat training and almost 9 months of aviation training) does anyone have an answer for my question....thanks for all your answers.....OOHRAH, Semper Fidelis!
Fraternization in the Marine Corps - Just WHEN does it apply? Okay, I am preparing to go into the USMC. After having made my decision (not due to) I met my current boyfriend. He is a Corporal in the USMC, and is stationed in Beaufort, SC. Obviously he is in Aviation, but when I join, I don't intend to have a similar MOS - in fact, I'm seriously considering Intelligence or Linguistics. We'll be stationed in separate locations. I was just wondering how fraternization worked, and how it could affect our relationship long-term? I won't make my decision about entering based solely on our relationship. I want to earn the title of Marine, regardless of who I am with. By the time I come out of Boot Camp, he'll probably have picked up Sgt.
marine corps air wing?? thinking of joing the marines and being an aircraft mechanic or even aviation logistics....if i did either job would i ever have to go on foot patrols in Iraq?.....not that i'm scared i just don't want to be surprised
USMC Aviation Question? I'm an 18-year-old female, soon to be taking the ASVAB to enlist in the Marines. I took the practice test and scored an 80, which is apparently really good. I will take the oath of enlistment and officially enlist this Wednesday. Either tomorrow or the day after that, I'll be choosing my desired job. I want something in aviation. I know I can't fly anything because I'll be enlisted but what are the different jobs in aviation support that I can choose from? I know they'll tell me when the time comes to choose, but I'd like to research my options ahead of time.
Joining the Marine Corps? I'm just finishing my first year of college and not sure i really like it. I've always wanted to join the marines, I don't want to sound like a pussy or anything but I'm not into doing the Infantry jobs...is it a good idea to join and do maybe Admin or aviation?
V-22 Osprey Aircraft - Great Aviation disaster? Did anyone pick up the 10/8th issue of TIME and read about this flying disaster that is about to go to Iraq carrying our Marines? If I was an Marine wife or Mother, I'd be gathering all the others like me and marching my little fanny up to the White House for some answers. Unbelieveable. It's good news for the emeny. Chances are, they won't even make ground. 24 - 26 Marines. No ejection seats. No parachutes. A whole lot of flaws. Are you kidding me?
